Investor interest has been sustained across major sports leagues for years, and professional teams remain attractive even in uncertain economic times due to rising media rights values, loyal fan bases, and sheer scarcity. It is considered to be a strong investment proposal.
In recent years, all types of investors have gotten involved, from wealthy individuals and wealthy families to multi-club ownership groups and consortia, private equity funds and state-owned investment companies. In fact, as sports team properties have become more popular, investment activity has increased, and it can be difficult to keep track of who’s money is coming from and where it’s coming from.
That’s why SportsPro partnered with New York-based financial advisory firm The Ledge Company to provide a comprehensive database of all team acquisitions and minority investments across many major sports leagues. This database dates back to 2010 and aggregates public information related to the NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB, MLS, Premier League, EFL Championship, Serie A, Serie B, and Ligue 1.
New investments will be added over time as they are confirmed. Currently, this database allows users to quickly and easily search and filter investments by company, investor, league, sport, country, and year, and provides access to information on over 180 trades from the past 14 years. is provided.
