Irving- Irving’s largest entertainment district could draw even more guests thanks to a multimillion-dollar investment.
Since opening in 2018, Toyota Music Factory in Irving, the city’s largest entertainment district, has drawn millions of visitors.
“They always have concerts here, so there’s always something to do,” Blake Ramo said.
Best friends Sidney Ford and Karyn Flowers visited Toyota Music Factory on Friday night for dinner and a movie.
“It’s not too crazy, it’s more like a calm, calm atmosphere. We can come here and enjoy the atmosphere,” Sidney Ford said.
The Irving City Council on Thursday approved a $6 million plan to upgrade the entertainment district, including improvements to the plaza and outdoor stage, new signage and renovations to some stores and outdoor patios.
Lauren Gattis said, “That would be cool, it would be a little more pizza-y.”
Last year, the entertainment hotspot brought in more sales and mixed beverage tax revenue than it had ever earned in its six-year history.
“It’s a very successful venue, but like anything, there’s always room for improvement,” said Irving Assistant City Manager Philip Saunders. “We want to be the best, and of course we want to be the best.”
Companies are also paying attention. Christus Health opened its headquarters next door last year.
Wells Fargo is building a $500 million campus across the street.
“One of the main reasons they’re moving there is because of the Toyota Music Factory,” Sanders said.
Once the changes are implemented, the developer, Brookfield Properties, can seek reimbursement from the city, which will be paid by tax revenue generated within the city-owned property.
“So we have everything we need, so we don’t have to go to downtown Dallas or go all the way to Irving, we have everything right here,” Ford said.
The city expects the renovation work to be completed within the next year.
