“I come from a family of engineers. So my father kept telling me all my life, ‘You have to learn how to think.’ So for me, that was very important. It was clear that I would eventually pursue a technical degree in science or engineering,” Gomez said.
But while pursuing a degree in pharmaceutical and cosmetic science, a speaker at a conference gave a speech that made everything click for Gomez. At the end of the speech, the speaker announced an opening for the marketing position that Gomez had applied for and won.
“So I realized that translating science into marketing speech was the source of my passion, and I stumbled upon it by accident. I started in chemical engineering…but I loved it and , I hope to continue to develop myself here in the future.”
As Global Marketing Manager for Lubrizol Life Sciences’ Nutraceuticals Division, Gómez leads strategic planning for new product launches, organizes trade shows, and executes global marketing and communications plans. Raised in Mexico and currently living in Spain, Gomez’s international perspective has helped foster a culture of creativity and outside-the-box thinking.
“In Mexico, we sometimes don’t have all the resources we need, and sometimes we take on the role of problem solvers. And with the opportunity to move abroad, we also value our culture. Because we are so authentic, so welcoming, so open-minded. I think it has made me more humble, more respectful, and more tolerant of other cultures. I’m very proud to be Mexican, and I realize that you have to keep your roots strong, especially when you move abroad. Traveling the World Because I’m here, even if I have wings now [and] You look at other things, your roots are what keeps you grounded. ”
