IVE, new single first world tour (exclusive)

IVE gets to work as soon as she walks into the office.

But unlike your typical 9-to-5 office worker, you’ll see these six girls dressed up in formal attire and hunched over their desks, waiting for the hours to pass. It is not.

Indeed, just like any other employee, they too have a scroll of things to do. But in Saweetie, Inc.’s pop star division, these girls are part of a special task force operating in unique ways.

In the middle of a summer day in Los Angeles, the girls Ga Eul (21 years old), Eugene (20 years old), Won Young (19 years old), Ray (19 years old), Ji Won (19 years old), and Yi Seo (16 years old)… Confidently striding past a crowd of day workers, ready to go. Own the night. According to rapper Saweetie, what is their mission? To increase the “FUN frame”.

And with IVE’s first all-English single, “All Night,” that’s exactly what they set out to do with the help of 30-year-old Saweetie in their first major collaboration. Set to lively beats, the girls become the life of the party, transforming a dreary office into a high-energy atmosphere. barbie– Wind Nightclub. When Swedish duo Icona sing the same lyrics as Her Pop’s 2013 song of the same name, their carefree confidence becomes even more apparent.

“When love is this deep/We don’t need to sleep/And it’s like this/We can do this all night/Yeah, everything’s okay,” the girls sing in a collective chorus.

True to their night owls nature, they’re also awake at 10pm when they sit down with people in Seoul to discuss recent milestones.

“My previous songs have been about loving myself and being myself, but I think this single will be a little different because it’s about encouraging the listeners,” Wonyoung thinks.

The single, which emphasizes the word “we,” seems to share a different message from the group’s previous two title songs, “Baddie” and “I AM.” This alludes not only to the sisterly bond the girls share as a group, but also to their guarantee to their fans, nicknamed DIVES.

However, the similarities between this single and Icona Pop’s song end with the lyrics and beat.

In IVE’s reimagining of this nostalgic truck, the girls make the most of a cluttered office surrounded by tall piles of manila folders strewn everywhere. Instead of complaining, they just add to the playful chaos by bursting “throwing” their own colorful confetti, balloons, and streamers.

The “Icy Grl” rapper also makes a stunning entrance of her own by performing her hazy vocals on top of a conference table. After just a few minutes, she launches into her signature explosive rap, with the IVE girls rocking right behind her.

When Eugene thinks about memorable moments with Saweetie off-camera, her mind immediately jumps to the “Best Friend” artist’s larger-than-life expressions on set.

“I really love her style, including her makeup,” she says. “I was very curious – how long does it take? [for her] Prepare? I was really shocked because it was so long. ”

Learning English for singles was also a long process, but also a rewarding one as it gave Eugene a favorite English word.

“Kill me,” she said triumphantly, putting her hands on her temples in thought. “I love the word kill.”

This is probably the word that comes to mind when Wonyoung talks about the “unique atmosphere” that she can express by singing in English.

Luckily, they’ll be able to share that vibe first-hand with the world this year as they embark on their first world tour, “Show What I Have,” which will take them through Asia, the Americas, and Australia.

Of all the places she’s visited, Eugene says she’s especially excited to visit Australia, and when she mentions the continent’s animals, the girls’ faces immediately light up and she hears cries of “Kangaroo!” It went up.

When Liz highlighted her travel bucket list, Wonyoung immediately jumped into the role of being the de facto interpreter for the interview.

“Liz says she wants to go to the Eiffel Tower, but if we’re in America, I’d probably go shopping,” Wonyoung says, looking at Liz who is sitting in the middle. “She’ll be happy to see a different world, a different atmosphere, and I’m sure she’ll love it.”

It’s clear that Wonyoung has his own plans as well. A light bulb went on in the singer’s head when she was asked what she would bring with her if he could only bring one thing on tour.

“We’re going to bring in a big carrier. [don’t want] I want to buy something in America so I can take something from Korea,” she says wisely. “A lot, a lot. We should have taken a huge aircraft carrier.”

But before all the fun happens, Iseo says his plan is to learn a new language for the tour so he can better communicate with the dives at each stop.

At some point, the constant travel and jet lag from touring may wear her out, but Gaur says she knows how to rest. Taking a bath for the lower body just before a good night’s sleep is effective for relaxing muscle tension. Knowing that there are reassuring team members right next to you gives you motivation to work harder.

A world tour may seem daunting, but it’s the perfect time for the group to enter their third year as a group, having just celebrated their second anniversary in late December. As you progress through your career and prepare for a tour with a diverse set of genres, a few songs naturally rise to the top as favorites.

For Wonyoung, the song “Love Dive” from her second single album of the same name is the most impressive.

“I really love this song because I think it shows the most unique parts of us. It’s not too fast, it’s not too slow,” she explains. “I think that kind of tempo suits us really well, and I think the lyrics really suit us as well.”

By singing about self-love like the members of IVE, they were able to learn more about their influence as role models. For example, Liz believes that she first needs to love herself completely before she can ask her fans to do the same. It is the sincerity with which they sing that allows their music to reach their fans on a deeper level.

And in that spirit, according to Wonyoung, he expects “All Night” to be the first of many English singles the group will perform. The same goes for potential future collaborations with other big artists. Rei envisions her dream collaboration.

“Sabrina Carpenter,” she said, and Eugene exclaimed, “I really love her too.”

A collaboration with 24-year-old Carpenter is on the wishlist, but fans won’t have to wait long to get another taste of IVE’s music later this year.

“We’re working on it,” Gaur says with a smile.

“It’s better than before,” Wonyoung adds, raising expectations. “and again, [it will have] Our musical style contains a very encouraging message that being yourself is the best, so please look forward to it! ”

Rehearsing past songs while working on new music may now evoke nostalgia, but this juxtaposition is also another milestone the girls are looking forward to. Faced with this convergence of past, present and future, members say they are ready to focus on the latter.

“I think it’s a little nostalgic,” Gaul says of the past. “But I want to enjoy the moment and focus on the future in front of me.”
