An era may be over for Philadelphia Eagles center star Jason Kelce. He reportedly announced his retirement to his teammates on Monday night following the Birds’ disappointing loss in the NFL playoffs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Although Kelce has not publicly acknowledged his retirement, he spent his entire 13-year NFL career in Philadelphia and continues to warm the hearts of those in the city who love him most.
On Wednesday, Kelce drove to his local McDonald’s in Blue Mall, Pennsylvania, ordered sausage, eggs and cheese, and visited employee Daniel Bonham.
Bonham, a huge fan of Kelce, ordered breakfast for the NFL player and took multiple selfies during his drive-thru visit.
During Wednesday’s visit, Kelce surprised Bonham by signing a kelly green Eagles jersey and handing it to him as he paid for his order.
Bonham told local media: “I am forever grateful and very lucky to have crossed paths with him so many times. I wish him nothing but the best.” fox 29.
Kelce’s fans and residents of his current hometown of Havertown, Pennsylvania, were captivated by his act of kindness in a time of grief following rumors that he would be leaving the league.
“This is why I love him,” one person wrote on Instagram. “It’s hard not to like him because he’s so humble.”
“Just when I thought I was done crying,” said another woman.
That same day, Kelce appeared on the New Heights podcast with his older brother and fellow NFL star Travis Kelce and stated that he has not yet made any public announcements or decisions regarding the future of his NFL career.
“I intentionally did not disclose what I was doing, even though it appears to have been leaked to the media,” Kelce said. “I don’t think you’re really in a position to make that decision after a game like that. I don’t think so. There are too many emotions in that moment to really fully understand that decision. ”
Kelce added that any announcements or decisions he makes will be done “in a way that is decisive and honors the many individuals who have meant so much to me and shaped my career.”
The Philadelphia Eagles finished the season with a record of 11 wins and 6 losses.
