Amazon founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos has sold more than 14 million shares of his company’s stock worth about $2.4 billion, bringing his total sales since the beginning of the month to 50 million.
The selloff began late last week and continued through Tuesday, according to securities filings. Bezos sold a total of 14,006,906 shares for approximately $2.37 billion, the filing states.
The sale follows a pre-arranged trading plan adopted by Bezos in November and unveiled earlier this month that allows him to sell up to 50 million Amazon shares by January 31, 2025. did.
Mr. Bezos sold about 12 million Amazon shares last week, worth about $2.03 billion, and sold another 12 million shares a few days earlier. He unloaded another 12 million shares the week before.
Prior to his latest round of sales, Bezos had not sold any Amazon stock since May 2021, when he stepped down as Amazon’s CEO. Last year, he gave away about $240 million worth of Amazon stock.
