Northern Tier League boys basketball had its best performance Saturday as two of the five champions were crowned on the final day of the Josh Palmer Foundation Clarion Classic at Elmira High School.

North Penn Mansfield faced off against Elmira Notre Dame in the Boys Regional Division 1 final, winning 65-30. Undefeated Troy defeated Corning 66-55 to claim the Boys Region Division 2 crown.

In a testament to the geographical diversity of the 28-team tournament, the lone winner of Section 4 was Binghamton-Seton Catholic Central, who won the girls regional title with a 41-30 win over Ithaca.

In the eight-team division, Tonawanda’s Cardinal O’Hara won the girls division with a 69-55 win over Rochester’s Bishop Kearney, and undefeated New Rochelle defeated Annapolis (Md.) St. Mary’s 59-44. They won and won the boys division. .

The four-day tournament was also fruitful for the Elmira boys and Horseheads girls, who won their respective fifth-place matches on Saturday and finished with a 2-1 record in competitions held at Elmira High School and Ernie Davis Academy. .

Boys national division

New Rochelle 59, St. Mary’s 44: Kass Mirza hit a National Division Championship Game-record seven 3-pointers and scored 30 points to propel New Rochelle (9-0) to the title.

Mirza made 7 of 14 3-pointers and 9 of 10 from the foul line.

Malik Gasper added 14 points for New Rochelle.

Giovanni Hall paced St. Mary’s (4-8) with 12 points.

Elmira 62, Bishop Kearney 50: Chris Woodard scored 31 points on 12-of-17 shooting and helped pace the Express (3-4), who led 37-20 at halftime of the fifth-place game.

Anthony Kitching added to Elmira’s dominance inside with 16 points.

James Reeves and Maddox Volpe each scored 15 points for Bishop Kearny (4-5).

Greater Latrobe (Pennsylvania) 67, Horseheads 59: Maddox Huey finished off a strong tournament for the Horseheads with 30 points despite losing the race for seventh place.

Jack Fesech added 20 points for the Blue Raiders (2-7), who made 6 of 12 3-pointers.

Max Butler paced Greater Latrobe (4-5) with 25 points and Jataun Williams had 17 points.

Mt St. Michael 58, Epic South 41: Mount St. Michael (Bronx) defeated Epic South (Queens) in the battle for third place, leading 34-18 at halftime.

For the Mounties, Noah Williams had 17 points, followed by Mekhi Philozine with 16 points.

Marquise Lloyd paced Epic South with 16 points.

Freshman Mariah Mathias led Elmira with 20 points.

Lancaster St. Mary’s 68, Harrison 61: Jada Mushatt scored 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting to lead St. Mary’s to victory in the third-place game. Emily McDonald contributed with 17 points.

Mia Strazza led four Harrison players in double figures with 19 points.

Troy 57, Corning 50: Kailyn Sterling scored 13 points and Alyssa Parks added 12 points as Troy beat Corning for seventh place.

Hannah Nichols paced the Hawks with 17 points.
