LEAWOOD, Kan. — As freezing weather arrives again this weekend, some business owners are still trying to get back to normal.
KSHB 41 spoke with some people who say single-digit temperatures and frozen water pipes are not a good thing.
“We’ll probably be closed for two to three weeks, depending on whether we have to redo the floors and walls. It’s tough. It’s sad,” said Alisa Cascio, owner of Alisa Rene Boutique.
Casio is the owner of a boutique in Leawood. She never imagined receiving the call she received Monday.

“One of our employees called and said, ‘Alissa, water is coming in from all the windows,'” Cascio said.
Returning to this, in a newly renovated boutique, is the scariest thing for management.
“It was a pipe that burst, and the employee said it sounded like a gunshot,” Cascio said.
The same goes for Christie Chase, who owns Haircare Solutions by Kirikis Salon in Gladstone.
“I received an email from my landlord saying that the salon may be experiencing water damage due to a burst pipe upstairs,” Chase said.
Chase is serving clients suffering from alopecia, but her work is on pause.
“They need services too, and it’s a slow season for some stylists. We need income,” she said.
For these executives, many things may not seem to apply.
“I have a relationship with God that is [the salon] It’s his. He blessed me with that,” Chase said.
They are doing everything they can to keep it that way. For Casio, that means offering deep discounts through its online store.
“Hopefully it continues. I’m going to promote it as much as possible and try to survive,” Cascio said.
Chase takes it day by day and stands by his beliefs above all else.
“I’m just going to stay put. I don’t know what that’s going to do for me. My way is not God’s way,” she said.
