The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will begin hosting a new business lecture series starting January 11th. The monthly one-hour class is open to individuals as well as small businesses.
Samantha Springer is the chamber’s executive director. She said she was glad to create an opportunity for local businesses to learn new skills outside of the chamber luncheon.
“I think we just wanted to offer something different that was business-oriented,” Springer said. “As a chamber, I think we have something to offer, and that’s great for our members as well.”
Lecture topics include graphic design, conflict resolution, search engine optimization, and more. Springer himself will be giving a presentation on public speaking this month.
“I think it’s more about the psychology of public speaking, because I know public speaking can be really difficult for some people,” she said. “Just the idea of being in front of people is something that people have a hard time getting over. I think there are a lot of tools I can teach people to help them overcome that.”
Business Series lectures are free for Chamber members and $50 for non-members. His private chamber membership fee is $50.
Face-to-face classes are held on the second Thursday of every month from 12:00 to 13:00, and lectures are also streamed live. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
