It also marks the first time since short track became an Olympic medal event in 1992 that two American women have finished on the podium in the same individual event at the world championships.

Santos-Griswold has won five times during the World Cup, which ran from October to February, tying Katherine Reuter-Adamek’s record for most wins by an American woman in a single season.

In 2022, Santos-Griswold achieved her best result of fourth place in her Olympic debut. She said the last time the United States won an Olympic medal in the women’s short track event was in 2010.
