Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGlenn announced a new system for reporting campaign contributions and expenditures to political candidates and political action committees, as well as data to help people track political influence. announced.
The system, called Sunshine, is designed to bring transparency, accessibility and accountability to campaign finance in Idaho.
The 2023 year-end report, all candidates running in 2024, state candidates, and PAC data are available in the new Sunshine portal. The site’s search feature provides quick and easy access to general searches for data.
Local candidates not on the ballot in 2024 will file their 2023 annual reports under the previous campaign finance system. Data and historical data for these candidates can be found at sos.idaho.gov until the data is migrated to the new platform. Federal campaign finance data is available on the Federal Election Commission website.
“The launch of Sunshine marks an important milestone in our continued efforts to increase transparency in Idaho’s election process,” McGlenn said in a news release. “By providing easy access to campaign finance information, we are empowering voters and promoting a more open and responsible political landscape.”
