Bills introduced in the New Mexico House and Senate include: Community Solar Access FundWe help communities build their own solar power projects.
The bill, sponsored by House Majority Whip Leena Szczepanaski and Sen. Harold Pope, would create a $110 million fund to be administered by the New Mexico Financial Services Authority to This will help fill the gap in access to solar power in the United States.

“We have the resources to do this now and it’s only now that we really start investing in our future and it’s time to really start investing in us,” he said. “As a state, when we talk about solar, we have such tremendous resources, but there are communities that don’t have access to the expertise and resources to start these projects in their communities, and this fund is just about to end. I think it would be a great asset to make that happen. ”
Projects will be prioritized based on community needs, saving local governments money and increasing emergency resiliency in New Mexico communities.
