Texas lawmakers have delivered meaningful results for small business owners, including property tax relief and regulatory reform.
Although the Texas Legislature will not be in this year’s regular session, it’s worth remembering that small business wins are assured in 2023 and preparing for the next regular session in 2025. Direct advocacy in Austin and support of active lobbying legislators. Raising your concerns to your MP can make a big difference.
In 2023, the Texas Legislature advanced several small business aid bills, including:
- $18 billion in property tax cuts This makes it easier for small business owners to raise wages, create new jobs, and invest in their communities.
- Texas Regulatory Integrity Act This allows small business owners to better comply with regulations without being burdened by the complexities of multiple jurisdictions over their business practices.
- Creation of business court We can handle complex litigation and give small business owners greater confidence in our legal system.
- market-based family vacation Strengthen the ability of Texas businesses to hire, compete and grow. This market-based approach not mandatory Employers can then choose whether to offer it as an employee benefit.
