HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) – Hancock Ambulance Service is investing nearly $1 million to upgrade its emergency vehicles and equipment.
This is their biggest investment to date.
Commissioner Desso Polgar said they do not receive local, state or federal funding, so it is imperative they charge to respond to emergencies.
Polgar said they want to continue serving the community in a safe and timely manner using state-of-the-art equipment.
“I actually have two Wheel coach boxes, which are behind me. And I bought three transport vans, which should arrive in June or July. So I bought five. Masu [new vehicles], half of our fleet will be replaced. And since they are 20 years old, they are due. ”

Hancock Ambulance Services has locations in Chester, New Cumberland and Weirton and has been serving the community since 1991.
Polgar said it currently employs 35 different paramedics and paramedics.
They make approximately 8,000 calls a year and are excited to continue serving the community with this updated equipment.
Hancock Ambulance Services also relies on community membership to accomplish its mission.
“The community supports us each year with membership activities. It certainly helps us and gives them something in return when they need us in emergencies or with local transportation. You will be giving.”
