Last week, 10 Red Deer entrepreneurs took to the stage to share their ideas in front of local business leaders at the Catalyst Incubator’s gala event on March 21st.
The Catalyst Incubator program was designed by the Central Alberta Regional Innovation Network (CARIN) to help local entrepreneurs move from idea to export in a faster and more seamless manner.
“These entrepreneurs are just beginning their journey. Many of them have never had to explain their idea to a member outside of their family before joining the Catalyst program. In just two months It’s amazing to see how much progress each person has made in such a short period of time,” said Kelly Chiarach, General Manager of Community Future Central Alberta.
During the eight-week program, each entrepreneur received over 50 hours of training from a mentor.
The program focuses on supporting startups in manufacturing, agriculture, technology, energy innovation, and related sectors.
The entrepreneur covered a variety of industries this year, including clean energy, hydroponic farming, massage therapy, and equipment design.
“I’m really happy to be a part of this program,” said Justin Travis of the startup Wall Art. “My past mentors have taught me a lot about who my customers are and how best to approach them.”
