People looking to start a small business in Long Beach or business owners looking to improve their operations can now enroll in an educational program to learn the tools and skills needed to run a successful company.
The Entrepreneur and Small Business Education Series, hosted by the Downtown Long Beach Alliance and CSULB’s Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, is free to existing and potential local business owners and California State University Long Beach students .
According to the DLBA website, the cost to attend the approximately two-month workshop series is estimated at $1,350.
“What we’re trying to do is provide some support to entrepreneurs in the city,” Wade Martin, professor of economics and director of the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at CSULB, said in a promotional video. .
Martin said the program is open to anyone in the city who wants to participate.
Program registrants can learn concepts gained through practical experience and get advice on marketing plans, building financial tools, organizing work teams, and what legal structure they should have. .
The series, which includes weekly workshops, begins with “The Value of a Business Plan,” which will be taught by CSULB instructor Mitch McNicol on Saturday, Jan. 20, at Studio One Eleven (245 E. Third St.).
The next class in the program is:
- January 27: “All About Accounting.”
- February 3: “Digital Marketing 101 + Fundraising.”
- February 10: “Create a Marketing Plan”
- February 17: “HR Basics and Summary.”
- February 24th: “Where to look for a rental agreement?”
- March 9: “Building a Strategic Plan”
- March 16: “How to Get Funded.”
- March 23rd: “Putting it all together.”
Those who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion issued by CSULB.
The university will also offer the opportunity to apply for three months of “in-kind” business development services from Fuller Management Corporation, a private company that provides customized business coaching, advice and development to organizations with 100 or fewer employees. It’s planned.
