Madison Chock and Evan Bates, who finished their rhythm dance at the World Figure Skating Championships, will be leading the way, aiming to win back-to-back titles and complete the season undefeated.
The American scored 90.08 points, the highest score in the world this season, in Montreal on Friday.
They head into Saturday’s free dance (1:30 p.m. ET) with a 2.56 point lead over Italy’s Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri. peacock).
“I definitely had the most fun skating this program all season, and I think that’s a big testament to the audience,” said Chock, who has been training with Bates in Montreal for the past six years.

Chock, 31, and Bates, 35, are the oldest couple to win world titles in ice dancing, winning for the first time last year in their 12th season together.
They won their first victory at the Grand Prix Final in December and entered these worlds with the highest total score in the world this season.
They have won every major ice dance competition except the Olympics, with their best finish being 4th place in 2022. They are the Olympic team champions from 2022.
This may be the last tournament of their careers. They plan to marry in June and reconsider their future in the sport each season.
