Zuckerberg was seen admiring Reliance Industries heir Ananth Ambani’s luxury watch in a video that went viral on social media. The video was also reported in several Indian news outlets including Hindustan Times and Indian Express.
Praising Ambani’s watch, Zuckerberg said, “You know, I’ve never wanted to own a watch. But when I saw it, I thought, “Watches are cool.” “It was,” he said.
Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan spent the weekend attending Ambani’s pre-wedding party. Before the big celebration, Zuckerberg toured Asia for a week, visiting Japan and South Korea before arriving in India on Thursday.
“Your watch is amazing. It’s so cool,” Chan said, pointing to the watch. “Who made it?”
“Richard Mille,” Ambani replied.
“You might want that,” Chan said.
“Not really,” Zuckerberg said with a smile.
“No, it’s not, but something like that,” Chan said.
The model of the watch Ambani wore during the conversation is unknown. A representative for Ambani did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s questions about the watch.
Zuckerberg was one of the many star-studded guests invited to Ambani’s pre-wedding party. Microsoft founder Bill Gates and former President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka were also in attendance.
On Friday night, pop star Rihanna performed a 19-song set that rivaled a concert at the party. This performance will be Rihanna’s first full live show in nearly eight years, with the exception of her performance at last year’s Super Bowl.
Representatives for Mr. Zuckerberg did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for comment outside of normal business hours.
