The men’s athletes geared up today for the conclusion of the 2024 World Cup Super-G season in Hvitfjell, Norway. Today, Field fought for a spot in the World Cup finals in Saalbach, Austria.

Marco Odermatt is at the top of the Super G World Cup standings, but the top points are close heading into this weekend’s race. Before the race, Odermatt had 390 points, Vincent Kriechmayr (AUT) had 269 points and Rafael Haaser (AUT) had 222 points. Odermatt needed to do everything he could today to win the 2024 Globe.

Today, Austria’s Vincent Kriechmayr put in a great run to beat Odermatt’s time and take the top spot on the podium. This was his 8th Super G win and his 2nd win of the 2024 season, tying him with Odermatt for the most SG wins this season. This was Kriechmayr’s 18th victory in his World Cup career.

He said: “Sure, it was a short super-G. But the feel on the course wasn’t too lumpy and there was no ice, so it was smooth. “I skied pretty perfectly, but the left turn on the first split was amazing. It wasn’t great, but it was good enough to win today,” he continued, “I just wanted to have fun and push.”

The path to Earth is unattainable, Kriechmeyer assured everyone during the interview. He said: Odermatt was impressive and 80 points against Odermatt is impossible. ”

Odermatt put on the number 7 and was immediately aggressive, seeking even more aerodynamic performance throughout the course. However, two small problems in the middle section of the course prevented the leaders from finishing in the lead. He edged North America’s Jeffrey Reed by just +0.02.

Jeffrey Reid of Alpine Canada Alpin was shooting from top to bottom. Third from the start, he passed the top section quickly on a clean line. He established an early lead and maintained his speed throughout the course. He advanced to the top, but was knocked out of the leader’s chair by Kriechmayr.

Reed still finished the day in second place, earning him his first World Cup podium.

Reid said: I still can’t believe it’s happening. The past hour has been an intense rush. But yeah, I think it’s really exciting and it feels like it’s been a long time coming for me. And today was just the day I had skiing and everything, so I’m really happy. ”

Italian Dominic Paris looked confident as he stood on his outside skis throughout the track. He has finished on the podium in super-G 14 times, but has not finished on the podium in that event this season. Prior to Hvitovjell, Paris was in 15th place in the Super G World Cup standings, and this podium finish will improve their position in the World Cup finals.

north american

The North Americans showed their strength this weekend, achieving a number of important milestones. Yesterday he had 10 top 30 finishes in the downhill and today he had 6 top 30 finishes, including him and 2 Canadians with top 5 finishes.

Alpine Canada Alpine had a great day today with two career-best results in the super-G. Jeffrey Reed took third place and Cameron Alexander took fifth place.

It was clear that Alexander brought the momentum and confidence from yesterday’s podium finish to the super-G track, which was enough to earn him fifth place.

Stifel U.S. Ski Team racer Ryan Cochran-Siegle recorded the fastest time by an American ski team. He finished 11th, +0.42 off his winning time. This was Cochran Seagle’s third top-15 finish in super-G this season.

Teammate Kyle Negomil crossed the finish line +0.02 behind Cochran Seagle’s time. Negomil achieved 12th place, a career best. Negomil had a great weekend with best results in downhill and super-G.

Sam Morse, also a member of the Stifel U.S. Ski Team, finished 14th. Wearing number 42, Morse started from the start and skated strongly to finish in the top 15. This was a career best for Morse in super-G, with his previous best finish being 23rd.

Teammate Jared Goldberg also finished in the top 30. He drove calmly, but lost time on the final section of the track and finished 23rd.

Tristan Lane was skiing in his first World Cup, and although his time wasn’t fast enough to crack the top 30, it was a big day for the American independent athlete.

Seven North American athletes failed to finish within the top 30. Unfortunately, Alpine Canada Alpine’s James Crawford and Wylie Maple (USA) were pushed out at the gate and were unable to complete the course.

Jeffrey Reed, James Crawford, Ryan Cochran-Siegle, Cameron Alexander and Jared Goldberg are the North Americans who have qualified for the World Cup Super-G finals.
