On Sunday, February 4, at Temple Beth El in Northbrook, more than 150 Chicagoans joined the people of Israel for the Jewish National Fund, USA and Temple’s “Build Together: Stand with Israel” partnership event. We were in solidarity.
The keynote speaker for the event was Shahar Azani. Azani, an expert on Israeli education and currently working on his BDS on college campuses and combating anti-Semitism worldwide, is founder and principal of Fourth Dimension Strategies and senior vice president of Jewish Broadcasting Services. I am in charge of He spoke to the audience about how Israel has changed since October 7, countering anti-Semitism both on the ground and in the media, and about Israel’s unstable situation on the world stage.
Local lay leaders also encourage individuals to support the Jewish homeland in the short and long term through the Jewish National Fund USA’s Resilience Israel Campaign (jnf.org/ways-to-help/support-israel). We discussed how we can help. The campaign has since raised nearly $60 million. October 7, 2023 – Helping evacuate and resettle tens of thousands of residents in southern Israel, and providing shelter, food, clothing and other supplies to thousands more.
The campaign includes “Libunot Buyahad – Let’s Build Together,” a bold and strategic effort to rebuild the lives of communities and damaged people in the Israeli Besieged Zone (formerly known as the Gaza Besieged Zone). It also includes a plan.
