Ferdousi Zaman, an international student who graduated from the Master of Management Program in May 2023, won the Best Paper Award at the 24th Global Business and Technology Association (GBATA) Annual Conference.

The paper is titled “Electronic Medical Records: Wonders and Concerns.”

This paper describes the “wonder” of electronic health records (EHRs) in the medical field. These wonders include better maintenance, storage, and sharing of medical records. This means fewer medical errors, more benefits for the organization, and better conduct of research.

“Concerns” include physician burnout, possible disclosure of irrelevant information, security breaches, and invasion of privacy. Clinicians are finding that filling out EHRs takes much more time than before, leading to professional burnout. EHRs also take away some of the attention from patients, as clinicians spend a lot of time entering information into computers.

The biggest concern with EHRs is the potential for security breaches and personal health data to be compromised. According to the paper, “more than 40 million patient records were found to have been compromised in 2021.” The compromised data included personal information such as social security numbers, medical details, test results, and prescriptions.

Zaman hopes this document will help the medical field implement systems that protect patients and enhance the benefits of EHRs. In the future, I plan to pursue a doctoral program. program. She is passionate about research and plans to take advantage of all research opportunities in the future.
