LEWIS COUNTY, N.Y. (WWTI) – Not surprisingly, Lewis is partnering with Lewis County to find creative entrepreneurs looking to start businesses that improve the quality of life for Lewis County residents.
Ready, Set, LAUNCH is a six-month program that provides entrepreneurs with the training, funding, and tools they need to build a successful business. At the end of the program, an entrepreneur will submit a business plan proposal for a chance to receive her $10,000, $20,000, or $30,000 grant depending on the total cost of the project. Grant recipients will also receive ongoing business support, professional photography, grand opening promotions, and access to a low-interest loan fund through Naturally Lewis. Qualification required.
Naturally, Lewis is looking for creative projects that focus on the following categories:
- food and beverages;
- sightseeing;
- small scale manufacturing; or
- Construction/Trade.
Eligible applicants:
- Must be a small, for-profit business. The number of employees is less than 5.
- The applicant/owner is considered to have a low-to-moderate income, or a low-to-moderate income individual is deemed to create a job that is eligible for the grant.
- Applicants must contribute at least 10% of the total project cost with personal funds. Grants can only cover up to 90% of the total project cost.and
- Emerging businesses — new or open less than 6 months.
Naturally, Lewis will be accepting applications for the Launch Lewis County grant until Wednesday, May 15th. The Program Advisory Committee will review and select finalists to advance to the next round. Final candidates must complete an entrepreneurial training course in partnership with the Onondaga Small Business Development Center before submitting their final application.
