Navico Group announced a multi-million dollar investment in its Lowell, Michigan facility to establish two centers of excellence in metal manufacturing and electrification. This investment will increase quality, production capacity, efficiency, and the ability to manufacture products.
“Navico Group is committed to being a leader in metal manufacturing and electrification for the industries we serve, and this investment is a testament to that,” said Brett Dibkey, president of Navico Group. “The new manufacturing capabilities we are bringing to our Lowell facility will increase our product development agility and speed to market. Additionally, our focus on custom battery development will increase Brunswick’s focus on developing custom batteries as part of our overall ACES strategy. We support widespread electrification efforts.”
The Metal Manufacturing Center of Excellence will be equipped with the latest laser and robotic manufacturing technology to support the development and production of high-quality products for the marine industry. Most of these products are brought to market under the Attwood brand.
The new state-of-the-art battery lab and assembly capabilities will help Navico Group design and develop custom power solutions for the approximately 20 end markets it serves with brands such as Mastervolt and RELiON Battery. The lab will enable engineers to develop and test end-to-end battery technologies, from bespoke battery management systems (BMS) to new cell chemistries. The establishment of this battery facility strengthens the global expansion of Navico Group’s electrification efforts and becomes his second electrification center of excellence in addition to the company’s Amsterdam facility.
“The new battery facility is another example of our commitment to developing and delivering world-class low-voltage and high-voltage electrification solutions to our customers around the world,” added Dybky. “The industries we serve are undergoing a transition to electrification, and this investment will soon enable us to serve customers around the world.”
Sustainability is also a big focus at the Lowell facility. We are the first Navico Group location to achieve zero waste to landfill status. This means that 90% of waste is recycled, reused or otherwise removed.
