London, March 6, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–NedGroup Investments, a global asset management firm with over US$20 billion in assets under management, today announced the launch of a new Global Strategic Bond Fund (the “Fund”). We announced the launch.
The fund will be co-managed by Alex Ralph and David Roberts, who have over 50 years of combined industry experience. Alex Ralph spent over 15 years at Artemis, establishing and managing his £1.8bn Artemis Strategic Bonds fund. David Roberts spent 14 years as Head of Fixed Income at Aegon Asset Management (formerly Kames Capital) and was previously Head of Global Fixed Income at Liontrust Asset Management.
The core active fund focuses on interest rate and credit risk within a core global fixed income portfolio that is liquidity focused and unlevered. Managers will avoid illiquid, low-quality bonds.
“We believe the current market presents a great opportunity for fixed income investors to get back to the essence of fixed income as part of the value of their portfolios,” said Alex Ralph, co-manager of the fund. “A lot of big bond funds are chasing growth.” However, the new regime will require investors to expand their risk approach and will limit equity-like assets such as high-yield, emerging market and subordinated debt. ”
David Roberts said: “Bond markets are inefficient and often deviate from fair value. Our value-driven philosophy and agile portfolio management enable investors to maximize long-term capital growth and returns. It means we benefit from the combination.”
Tom Caddick, managing director of NedGroup Investments, said: “The fund combines a core global fixed income portfolio that is liquid and unleveraged with a value-oriented approach to interest rate and credit risk. “This is an unusual proposition in the bond market. Alex and David.” These are managers I have known and respected for the past 20 years, so I look forward to seeing Ned Group’s strategy of finding attractive managers and enabling them to launch their own boutique strategies take shape. I’m excited.
For us, this is a testament to our long-term, investment-led, entrepreneurial approach to finding excellence, and for our investors, access to great fund managers they might not otherwise be able to invest in. It means you can offer more choice and be more competitive. . ”
The fund’s strategy is to outperform the Bloomberg World Aggregate Total Return Index (hedged USD) over a three-year period. The base currency is the US dollar, but hedged share classes are available in pounds sterling and euros. The term is 3 to 8 years and the fund is Article 8.
