Thank you, Central Jersey.
Once again, Central Jersey residents can show their generosity and goodwill to help their less fortunate neighbors by donating to the annual Needy Fund during the holiday season, as they have done for decades. I did.
The response to our annual fundraising event has been heartwarming.
The Needy Cases Fund is a Central Jersey holiday tradition with a history spanning nearly 80 years. This community service project is sponsored by the Home News Tribune and its predecessor, the Daily Home News, in collaboration with the New Brunswick Lions Club. In recent years, the Courier-News has partnered with the Home News Tribune to sponsor charitable causes.
From Thanksgiving to Christmas, the Home News Tribune, Courier News and MyCentralJersey.com provided detailed coverage of the 11 organizations serving Central Jersey. This year’s agents are Franklin Food Bank, Make-A-Wish New Jersey, FISH Inc., Middlesex County CASA, New Brunswick Lions Club, Community Access Unlimited, Elijah’s Promise, and Martin Luther King – Youth Centre, Aldersgate Outreach Community Center and Women. We are aware of the Somerset County Food Bank Network.
And you responded with kindness and empathy to the stories of our neighbors here in Central Jersey who aren’t having a great time during the holidays. Every day, they face challenges beyond their control brought on by their health and economic circumstances.
You didn’t forget them.
Thanks to your generous support, the Needy Cases Fund received over $11,125 this year. Nearly $600,000 has been raised over the past 20 years.
The Needy Assistance Fund is managed by the Lions Club of New Brunswick in a separate account and distributions of funds are distributed by MyCentralJersey.com and club representatives.
