As we begin a new year, we need to be mindful of maintaining our financial health.
There are several things you can do to manage your money better.Jim Temer of the Wisconsin Business Improvement Authority offers tips on credit cards.
“If you have multiple credit cards, you know that credit card interest rates can be very high and can waste you a lot of money in the long run.” he pointed out. “Contact your credit card company and [ask] Can I transfer my balance? Can I switch to a card with a lower rate? If you have several with balances, it’s great if you can pay off and get rid of the one with the lowest balance. ”
As Temmer continues, it’s not just about paying off debt, it’s also about having a financial plan.
He proposed to you.”Create a written budget and track your spending. This is one of the best ways to save money and stop spending more than you earn. Many of us don’t have as much control over the money we bring in, but we have more control over the money we spend. Be careful with your spending. ”
Temmer added that there are some useful free tools online to help people budget and track their finances.
When looking for these tools, he says, be wary of scams that ask for personal information or credit card numbers.
He adds that your bank or credit union’s website is a great place to start.
