Earlier this year, the Dressage Foundation awarded Lindsay Hollerger the first $25,000 grant from the Debbie McDonald Foundation. However, Lindsay was unable to take advantage of the grant and declined the award. TDF is pleased to award a grant to Nicolia “Niki” Clark (Montana).
The Debbie McDonald Foundation provides high-level training to horse and jockey pairs who have been trained to Prix St. We provide funding for training.
Niki will use the grant to train with Debbie MacDonald in Florida during the winter, then at her home in Montana year-round. She is co-owner of her own horse Comsi Comsa, an 8-year-old Dutch Warmblood, and she plans to use the funds to focus on training with her horse.
Niki said: “I am extremely grateful and humbled to have been awarded TDF’s Debbie McDonald Grant with Comsi Comsa. I am so honored to receive this grant in Debbie’s name. I would like to thank the generous TDF and its donors for allowing me to further my education at a time when I might not otherwise be able to do so. We want to continue to strengthen and make Debbie, TDF, and US Dressage proud.”
The Debbie McDonald Foundation previously provided $10,000 grants to FEI riders in the Pacific Northwest. Thanks to the generosity of Pamela S. Jones and Malama Honua’s Jones Family Foundation, this fund has grown and grown.
Holliger will be the first recipient of the $25,000 Debbie McDonald Fund in early 2023. The grant was allocated to her riding the horse Ave Maria MW, owned by Maplewood Warmbloods, led by Jen Vanover. Ms. Holleger was unable to take advantage of her grant because she left her employer of six years last month to start her own business in Aiken, South Carolina.
“This grant will be used in Wellington this season (2023-2024) and will be awarded to one horse and rider combination in particular,” Holleger told Eurodressage. Since she is no longer riding Ave Her Maria MW, Ms. Holleger decided to send the grant back for another suitable match. “I am so grateful that the Dressage Foundation awarded me the grant this year. It is a great honor and they have done so much for the American sport. I’m so happy to hear that the grant will go to Niki. She’s a great rider and a great human being.”
