One of Los Angeles’ most famous tourist attractions is under new ownership.
Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier is an amusement park on stilts that has been featured in movies such as: forest gump and iron man And in the opening title Three’s Companywas sold to SC Holdings. The investment firm, which specializes in sports, entertainment and hospitality, made the acquisition for an undisclosed amount.
The new owners plan to invest $10 million over the next five years into Pacific Park’s dining and entertainment programs and overall operations.
SC Holdings, run by managing partners Jason Stein and Daniel Haimovich, has previously invested in LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s entertainment studio, SpringHill Company, and is involved in major league pickleball and professional baseball. The company is also investing in the merger of pickleball associations.
Jeff Klock, vice president and general manager of Pacific Park, will continue to lead day-to-day operations at the pier, along with the management team. Klocke calls the new ownership a “landmark moment” for the attraction. The attraction features 12 rides, including a solar-powered Ferris wheel and the Route 66 West Coaster roller coaster.
Additionally, the Roof Hippodrome Carousel, built in 1922 and featuring 44 hand-carved horses, is still on display and in operation.The Hippodrome was a key location in his 1973s stingthe popularity of the film saved the merry-go-round and merry-go-round from destruction.
The pier, located at the foot of Colorado Avenue in Santa Monica, was originally two separate piers, the first pier built in 1909 and the second pier built in 1916.
