Two student organizations on Panola College’s campus, the Green Jackets and the Student Government Association, donated $1,500 to the Panola County Texas Veterans Relief Fund on Tuesday, February 27th. The donation was accepted by Bill Morris, founder of the Panola County Texas Veterans Relief Fund. Veterans Relief Fund and Panola County Veterans Affairs Officer.
“This year, we were able to increase donations to the Veterans Relief Fund by $500 thanks to your support of our annual Veterans Day Dinner on campus,” said Green Jacket Sponsor Katie Ferris. Ta. “It is an honor to host our annual veterans event, but it would not have been possible without our generous sponsors and their continued support.”
Donations were raised through sponsorships sold for the annual Veterans Day Dinner, an event coordinated by Green Jackets and Student Government Association members and sponsors. The event is free to all East Texas military members and is held annually on Veterans Day. Sponsorships are used to fund veterans events, donate to the Veterans Relief Fund, and fund future veterans events held at the university.

Seat sponsors, Panola County Gun Club, Larry & Donna Moreland, Bud Worley, and A&E Dining. and 12 Flag of Honor sponsors.
“The Veterans Day dinner was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our brave men and women who selflessly fought for the ideals and freedoms of our country,” said Green Jacket freshman Maru Cardoso. “It was truly moving to see their hard work, dedication and unwavering patriotism celebrated. It highlights the importance of honoring and recognizing the contributions of veterans not only on Veterans Day, but every day. That was the moment I did it.”
