UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WTAJ) — Penn State Startup Week, supported by PNC, features resources and speakers designed to help budding entrepreneurial students learn more about the industry, including The instructor is the student himself.
Startup Week, presented by PNC, is aimed at the Pennsylvania community, but anyone in the area can register on the website.
“We offer something for everyone,” said Matthew McKinney, Penn State’s entrepreneurship program manager.
Monday focused on speakers who were students themselves. One of the speakers was Mary Richardson, CEO of the dating app Bindr. She spoke to her students about her own journey as an app developer in a saturated market.
“I think it’s really important for students to hear how other students are doing it and how they can apply it to themselves,” Richardson said.
She also gave us tips on how to be a business owner while juggling the role of being a full-time student.
“I’m going to school full-time and studying Bindr full-time, so I’m lucky to have a good balance,” Richardson said.
