Ralph’s Supermercado y Mayorista, a major chain in eastern Puerto Rico, is expanding into the metropolitan area with an $8 million investment. A13th A store is scheduled to open this summer at The Outlets at Montehiedra.
Jose Soto, president of Ralphs, highlighted the chain’s unique approach of combining retail sales and wholesale warehousing under one roof, which customers can access without requiring a membership.
“This is what sets us apart and establishes us as a leader in the region,” Soto said.
The new Montehiedra store will offer a variety of services and specialty sections, including the chain’s largest wine cellar, deli, cafeteria, and butcher shop with specialty cuts.
Soto pointed out that the butcher section was previously exclusive to the Ralph’s Humacao store. Montehiedra’s deli area offers a wide selection of international natural foods.
“Having our first supermarket at The Outlets at Montehiedra will create greater demand and draw more visitors to the shopping center,” Soto said.
He also explained that the strategic choice of Montehiedra as the expansion site was based on the lack of supermarkets in the capital region that conduct wholesale and retail sales in a spacious environment with wide aisles. .
The new store will be 65,000 square feet, with 33,164 square feet dedicated to retail and 31,836 square feet dedicated to wholesale and warehousing. The opening of this facility is expected to create 250 direct jobs.
Soto said the store’s décor is modern and inviting, designed to “attract customers and provide excellent service.”
“We are dedicated to maintaining high quality standards and competitive prices for our products,” Soto asserted.
