RCCC won nine national market awards: The college competed with more than 1,000 institutions in the U.S. and abroad

SALISBURY — Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s marketing and communications team won nine national marketing awards at the 38th Annual Education Advertising Awards Contest, the nation’s largest and oldest education advertising awards competition.
The team competed against more than 2,000 submissions from more than 1,000 major universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and many foreign countries, winning awards in all nine categories of submissions.
The university’s marketing and communications team is led by Sarah Devlin, chief officer of governance, advancement and community relations, and the team members who created the winning work are graphic designer Alison Robinson, assistant director of marketing and communications; Carter Wingfield, and communications coordinator Jan Boone. I am a recently retired person.
“We are proud of the talent and dedication of our marketing and communications team that they bring to promoting the university,” said Dr. Carol S. Spalding, president of Rowan Cabarrus. “They help show the community who we are, and we’re pleased to be recognized for doing it well.”
RCCC is pleased to announce its 2021 annual report, “A Year of Endurance,” a direct mail postcard entitled “Your Future is Here,” and a wall art installation depicting a timeline of the industry’s evolution at Dr. Carroll. Won three gold awards. S. Spalding Advanced Technology Center in Kannapolis.
The university is launching a series of “Local Heroes” Facebook posts highlighting public safety alumni currently serving their communities, Instagram content featuring finalists in its annual Student Excellence Awards, and a marketing campaign called “Your Future.” We won three silver awards for our signage. “Our forward-thinking and creative marketing and communications team is passionate about promoting this university as a first-choice institution. It was an opportunity to test our campaign against the best universities,” Devlin said. “Our team recognizes that their designs are often a potential student’s first connection to the university. We do not take that responsibility lightly and are committed to building the university’s brand. We have worked hard to change the way our community views the university.”
The university received a bronze award for a video produced in collaboration with Market Street Studio to promote the Rowan Cabarrus Foundation’s student scholarships. Two achievement awards recognized the Rowan Cabarrus Foundation’s marketing materials. This includes a video titled “Why I Give” and various promotional items highlighting the Foundation’s impact in the community.
