Small business owners and entrepreneurs need all the support they can get.
The Regional Incubator for Sustainability and Entrepreneurship, also known as RISE, a partnership between the Norwalk Economic Development Corporation and the Greater Sandusky Partnership, will hold its third annual Small Business Symposium on April 12 at a.m. It will be held at Firelands from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bowling Green State University campus.
The theme of this year’s event is “Connecting Value: Aligning Purpose and Profit” and is aimed at small business owners, corporate and community leaders, and aspiring entrepreneurs.
RISE provides coaching and support at every stage of business development.
Other organizations involved include the Minority Business Empowerment Team, the Huron County Growth Partnership, and BGSU Firelands, whose dean brought the idea to RISE.
About 125 people are expected to attend the event, which is the only one of its kind in the area, said Kayla Cross, economic development assistant with the Norwalk Economic Development Corporation.
“All of this year’s breakout speakers are past participants,” Cross said. “Today is a day of intensive professional development.
“We would love to have you join us and give us great feedback.”
Alyssa Fisher, director of marketing and creative services for the Greater Sandusky Partnership and former RISE coordinator, said people will learn a lot at this event.
“It’s an opportunity to dig deep into a particular topic and get tools that can help your business,” Fisher says.
This year’s event will conclude with a keynote address by Michael Crawford, president and CEO of Hall of Fame Resort and Entertainment in Canton.
Crawford has been called the visionary behind Canton’s Hall of Fame Village and is also a BGSU graduate.
He also spent about 25 years at the Walt Disney Company.
A copy of Crawford’s book “From the Mouse House to the Penthouse” is included in the $25 symposium registration fee.
