When it comes to tipping, servers are usually pretty much what happened to TikToker and server Syd (@poorandhungry). She shared a real-life experience while dealing with her customers.
Sid is a content creator who shares insights and reenactments from his work as a server with his 269,400 TikTok followers. And in this video, which had 691,300 views as of Saturday, she shared perhaps her most shocking story yet.
She begins the video by reenacting something she recently experienced. There, a wealthy customer declares that he will pay for her entire meal with his card, and then tells his girlfriend, Sid, that she will not tip him.
“‘I’m not going to give you a tip. I’m going to give you life tips,'” she recalled him telling her. “‘Here’s my business card. Please go back to school.'”
“I really appreciate it. I’m currently in an MBA program,” she reportedly replied. “So, while a business card would be appreciated, it’s not necessary.”

To this he replied: It’s 2pm. I know you don’t go to school. ”
Sid then told her that he was an assistant dean at this “not-so-great university,” to which she replied, So this is just of no use to me. I’m in a master’s program. So I appreciate the life tips that actually keep me several steps ahead of you. But I’m going to walk away now, well, that’s how life goes sometimes. At least you know that if you get a degree from your school, you’ll obviously earn quite a bit of money. ”
In the comments, viewers couldn’t believe the boldness of the customer.
“Their philosophy is very confusing because it’s like, don’t you need servers in the restaurant you go to?” one person asked.
“I have never paid rent with LIFE TIP!” said another.
“A few months ago a regular told me he needed to make a life plan and get it approved by Valentine’s Day,” said a third commenter.
