It was a dream weekend for Steamboat Springs’ Jett Seymour and Eric Belshaw, who finished in the top 15 at the Alpine and Ski Jumping World Cups, respectively.
On Sunday at the Stifel Palisades Tahoe Cup, Seymour was the only American skier on the slalom course to qualify for the second run, finishing 23rd on the first run.
On his second run, Seymour recorded the sixth overall time of 49.28 seconds, moving him to 15th place in the competition with a total time of 1:43.61. This was Seymour’s best finish at the World Cup.
For his efforts, he won the Stifel Vivo Award. This is a prize given to the alpine skier who ranks highest in the competition based on his bib number. Seymour finished 24th ahead of his bib number 39.
Seymour and the other American men on the Alpine Ski Team will next compete in the Stifel Aspen Winter National Race, March 1-3.

While Seymour was racing down the mountainside of Tahoe, Belshaw was flying over Germany in Oberstdorf. He helped Team USA finish seventh at the Super Team HS235 World Cup on Friday, with two jumps totaling 777.1 meters between himself and teammate Tate Franz.
In Saturday’s individual events, Belshaw jumped 212 meters and 219.5 meters to place 18th and become the first athlete in World Cup history to break into the top 20.
Sunday was an even better result for Belshaw as he jumped 216.5 meters and 219 meters to place 12th overall. It was the first individual top-15 finish for the U.S. men’s ski jumping team since Kevin Bickner placed 15th in Vikersund, Norway in 2017.
