aArtificial Intelligence and Business, How to Use Social Media, and Employee Recruitment and Retention will be featured at the 3rd Annual Oro Valley Business Summit Workshops on Tuesday, January 30th at El Conquistador Tucson, a Hilton Resort. It is the subject matter.
The summit, hosted by the Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce, will include remarks from Oro Valley Mayor Joe Winfield and a lunch keynote address from Ryan Lambert of Three Bucket Wealth Management.
Guests will be able to network with each other throughout, which is an important feature for business owners, executives and decision makers, said Kristen Sharp, chamber president and CEO.
“This is a place of connection,” she said. “It’s a place to share your ideas and get ideas from others.”
The workshop begins at 9am. The workshops will be repeated simultaneously, allowing guests to hear from each speaker. Sharp said the targets were identified in part by Oro Valley business people, who cited artificial intelligence and social media as among the “top results of a business survey” conducted by the town last fall.
Workshop speakers include:
• Ash Black, adjunct instructor at the University of Arizona’s Eller School of Management. He is a creative technologist specializing in web application development, data visualization, virtual reality, and coordinating artificial intelligence outreach strategies.
“AI is rapidly becoming popular and integrated into our daily lives. Why not leverage it to help your business grow?” Sharp asked.
• Pushridge Christian Academy graduate and entrepreneur Lacey Kane founded Wildjoy, a digital application that “brings people to places in Arizona,” Sharp said.
Social media can be “very disruptive,” Sharp said. Kane “really knows how to use social media” to share his ideas and experiences.
• Brian Stewart serves as chief cultural impact officer at Pima Community College and vice president of PCC Northwest Campus. In his presentation, “Employee and Customer Attraction Through Organizational Culture,” the longtime PCC leader highlighted demographic, generational, and educational differences as employers work to attract and retain new talent. I’m talking about understanding.
The day is about “hands-on, experiential” learning, Sharp said.
Paul Melcher, community and economic development director for the Town of Oro Valley, appreciates the summit’s opportunity to interact with businessmen and “get their feedback instantly.” Town officials will be able to “sit in real-time and listen to businesses talk about their experiences, challenges and opportunities, as well as discussions among themselves.”
“When like-minded people are together, they are there to learn, grow, and increase their ability to succeed,” Melcher said. “We’re excited to hear they’re planning new ways and areas to succeed. If we can be a part of that, even better.”
