On Friday, multinational coffee chain Starbucks announced it is discontinuing its NFT rewards program that allows customers to earn and purchase collectible digital stamps for “what’s next as the program continues to evolve.”
According to an official announcement, Starbucks’ Odyssey Beta Program will end on March 31st.
In September 2022, the company announced Digital Collectible Stamps as NFTs for its U.S. members, creating an accessible Web3 community that enables new ways to engage with members and employees. “Starbucks has always served as a third place, a place where you can feel the warmth of connection between home and work through coffee, community, and a sense of belonging. The Starbucks Odyssey experience digitally connects you to a third place. We’re expanding globally, connecting members of the Starbucks Rewards loyalty program not just with Starbucks, but with each other,” said Brady Brewer, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Starbucks.
Existing program members will have their points expire when the program ends. Unfortunately, there is no separate benefit selection period in which you can see your points transfer. Notably, the coffee chain will be distributing a final offer via email to Odyssey members (Level 1 and above) at the end of the month.
“As the Starbucks Odyssey beta program comes to an end, we look forward to seeing what comes next and appreciate your continued commitment and feedback,” the official blog reads.
