Field jobs in industries such as construction, oil and gas, and mining involve high risks. But Gary Ng, co-founder and CEO of automated construction management software platform viAct, says the effects of such hazards can be avoided. “At viAct, we are building smart cities and nations using scenario-based vision intelligence solutions in risk-prone workplaces such as construction, oil and gas, manufacturing, facilities management, and mining.” says Mr. Ng. “With a vision to create a safer and more secure working environment in risk-prone industries, viAct has transformed its vision since its founding in 2016, delivering over 100 pre-built products in government, public and private sectors. We have developed and implemented artificial intelligence (AI) modules that will help reduce the number of accidents, optimize compensation costs and track environmental violations.”
With over 50 members worldwide, the Hong Kong-based startup is now expanding into the UAE and is entering this new market with a lot of recognition. “For years, viAct’s disruptive AI-powered solutions have been trusted by Google, the World Economic Forum, Forbes, and KPMG for a unique video intelligence-driven surveillance approach that manages engineered environments through proactive detection and AI. “It’s a powerful solution that facilitates real-time onsite and remote monitoring in a way that’s much smarter than what humans could do manually,” says Ng. “viAct has a business-to-business (B2B) monthly subscription model and works with large international real estate and construction companies, public transportation companies, and utilities. You can choose any type of AI module and easily plug and connect them – depending on your operational needs, run these modules at any stage of your project.”

Ng points out that the project began through the participation of . In fact, that experience opened the door for viAct to develop numerous pilot projects in the country. “viAct has over 7 years of field experience developing various AI and vision intelligence based solutions focused on workplace safety and sustainability, and has been working with four different government departments, namely Dubai Media Council (DMC ), Dubai Customs, Dubai Municipality and Roads and Transport Authority (RTA),” Ng revealed. “These pilot projects range from computer vision applications for DMC and Dubai Customs to chat-based applications for Dubai Municipality and his RTA.”
