Center County Congressman Scott Conklin announced that State University Borough will receive $827,476 in state funding to support affordable housing efforts.
The borough will receive $418,000 in rental unit construction, $254,000 in homebuyer construction, $82,681 in grants to community housing development organizations, and community housing development grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Community Economic Partnerships (DCED). A housing development organization management grant of $72,795 was awarded.
“With the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbating the housing crisis and half of Americans saying the lack of affordable housing is a major problem, we are committed to addressing this shortage in Pennsylvania. ,” Conklin said in the paper. release. “Funds from DCED will assist State University Borough residents in need, especially as Center County works to address the surge in people experiencing homelessness.”
DCED provides funding to build affordable housing for low-income state residents in Pennsylvania counties, distributing more than $12 million through the Pennsylvania HOME program.
