Automotive giant Stellantis has renewed its faith in Archer’s innovative Midnight Aircraft with a new $8.3 million stake purchase, taking an important step toward retail launch in 2025.

American VTOL developer Archer Aviation recently announced that auto giant Stellantis has purchased a stake worth more than $8.3 million, marking the possibility of a Midnight aircraft to be produced in partnership with Stellantis. This follows a recent visit by Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares to his Archer headquarters and manufacturing facility in Santa Clara, California. Although this is not a new partnership (Archer Aviation and Stellantis’ business relationship dates back to 2021.), which represents continued confidence from large customers in Archer’s ability to deliver first retail units by 2025.
Although it has a range of up to an hour and a payload of 1000 pounds, the Midnight, which seats up to four people, is designed for short trips (20 minutes) followed by a 10-minute fast charge. Construction on the first phase of Archer and Stellantis’ approximately 350,000 square foot manufacturing facility on 100 acres in Georgia is expected to be completed later this year. Once production begins, the plant will be able to produce approximately 650 units a year.
