SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – What do you do when you have a problem at work?
That’s why Western Iowa Tech’s latest competition allowed students to solve problems Thursday morning.
Great West Casualty in South Sioux City, Nebraska, partnered with Western Iowa Tech to provide real-world business problems for students to tackle.
Students used their analytical thinking and collaboration skills to develop workable solutions and present them to a panel of judges.
Is this a real world scenario? How AI will impact trucking insurance companies
“Business problems are obviously important because they are transformative experiential lessons for our students. It’s real life. They work with our community partners to provide solutions and solution tips. We can provide that,” said WITCC business professor Melisa Flanigan.
The question was, as AI advances, how do you envision trucking insurance companies like Great West Casualty incorporating or adapting their business models to these changes?
Thirty students participated representing Western Iowa Tech, College Now, and Pathway.
Each student is motivated to put into practice what they have learned in the classroom.
“It’s a good way to engage with external communicators. If someone has a problem in the real world, we can step in and help them solve it,” said student Adelaide Gassaway.
Prizes were awarded at 2:30 p.m., and were won by Team Jack from Siouxland Christian School, who presented on “Advancing AI in the Trucking Industry.”
