Cutter said he is 15% over his original budget and still enjoys having “one foot in the Midwest and one foot on the East Coast,” but he doesn’t know how long he can keep it that way.

“The challenge was strangely thrilling. I thought if anyone could figure out a way to overcome New York’s high real estate costs while still being close to family, it might be me,” Cutter said. said. “My interest in this has allowed me to travel further and in more rarefied air than I would have otherwise thought possible.”
