Charleston, West Virginia — T-Mobile recently announced it has completed a $200 million investment in West Virginia.
A press conference by Gov. Jim Justice at the state Capitol on Friday highlighted upgrades that include 5G service with 377 new towers and upgrades to 121 existing towers.
“We believe connectivity is not just a ‘must-have’ but is critical to economic development, education and safety,” said Edwidge Robinson, a T-Mobile executive.
Governor Justice said T-Mobile’s 5G availability has increased significantly in a short period of time.
“Ninety percent of the state now has access to T-Mobile’s 5G network, an increase of 500,000 people in two years,” Justice said.

T-Mobile, which merged with Sprint in 2020, acquired Shentel Wireless, a leading mobile service provider in West Virginia, in 2021.
T-Mobile said its 5G service is available on all interstates in West Virginia, and 70% of the state’s residents have access to its ultra-capacity 5G, which provides faster download speeds.
The company says 5G is currently available in Barbour, Braxton, Marion, Monroe, Nicholas, Summers and Upshur counties.
