Groundbreaking 4D sensor technology detects your intent to improve speech clarity and customize your hearing for unparalleled personalization and comfort in any environment.
Somerset, NJ, February 22, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Hearing speech in background noise remains the biggest challenge and complaint for people with hearing loss. To address this issue, Oticon today launches Oticon Intent™, the world’s first hearing aid with a user intent sensor that understands and adapts to what an individual wants to hear. Oticon Intent improves engagement in difficult-to-hear situations for people with hearing loss.
New insights from BrainHearing™ show that monitoring head and body movements can provide important information about hearing aid users’ communicative intentions in different listening situations.* Oticon Intent, a pioneering 4D sensor technology, leverages these insights and combines inputs about head movement, body movement, speech activity, and acoustic environment to understand what users need and want to hear. Understand exactly. We then seamlessly adjust the hearing support you provide. This provides a more intuitive, responsive and personalized auditory experience that mimics the brain’s natural way of processing sound.
Oticon Intent provides 360-degree access to sound while prioritizing each individual’s listening needs. All of this is built into Oticon’s smallest and most discreet rechargeable hearing aid ever. This could mean providing spatial awareness to help the wearer navigate the environment and find conversation partners. To support intimate one-on-one chats, Oticon Intent focuses on the speaker amidst background noise. Meanwhile, during group conversations, the hearing aids detect and enhance audio access to multiple voices in response to the wearer’s head rotation from side to side.
“Oticon has always been driven by the understanding that the ear hears, but it is the brain that makes sense of sound. With Oticon Intent, we strengthen our Brain Hearing approach and “By giving people more access to sound and voice, we’ve enabled them to: Actively participate in everyday situations,” said Dr. Virginia Ramachandran, Director of Audiology at Oticon. (AuD, PhD) said. “Our new sensor technology allows the device to understand the wearer’s listening intent and adapt in real time, providing unparalleled support and clarity in every conversation. Using Oticon Intent. This will help you communicate more easily in any situation.”
Leveraging advanced features such as second-generation deep neural networks (DNNs), Oticon Intent improves sound quality, listening experience, and speech understanding, providing access to more sonic nuances and speech.†
Oticon Intent also focuses on the user when it comes to design and comfort. This hearing aid has up to 20 hours of battery life and faster charging times than ever before. A quick 30 minute charge will give him 8 hours of hearing aids, and a 2 hour charge will give him a full day of use.‡ The device’s sleek design and IP68 dust and moisture rating demonstrate Oticon’s commitment to durability and style.
Oticon Intent utilizes next-generation Bluetooth® LE audio that supports the latest connectivity standards. This includes those made for iPhone® and Android™ phones, tablets, and PCs with OS 14 or later updates, and Android Protocol for Audio Streaming (ASHA). ** Users can now seamlessly connect to a variety of devices and accessories. Hands-free calling, direct streaming of music and audiobooks, and more. Additionally, it is a future-proof hearing aid that is compatible with future communication technologies such as Auracast™. ***
Oticon Intent is compatible with the Oticon Companion app, allowing users to easily manage their hearing experience from their smartphone or Apple Watch®.
