Tom Coughlin Jay Foundation Patients’ Special Day Held at TPC Sawgrass

Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida – Not everyone gets a seat inside the ropes at TPC Sawgrass during Players Championship Week. It has to be special like Kayden Ingram.

“It’s great to be out here,” Ingram said. “A lot of people don’t get to do this, so it’s really nice to see the players up close and meet some of the players.”

Kayden is a patient at the Tom Coughlin Jay Foundation. The players arranged the occasion to give Kayden and his family an opportunity to meet the golfers who were practicing on the iconic Island Green on Wednesday.

“This is amazing. I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” said David Schulich, Kayden’s grandfather. “It’s just an opportunity to be with this brave young man in terms of being with all the golfers and kind people.”

Just before he turned 12, Kayden was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He was in remission but relapsed in January last year. Kayden continues to receive cancer treatment at Nemours Children’s Health. His love of golf brings great joy during difficult times.

“This is a great distraction from what he’s going through every week in the hospital and with cancer treatment,” said Kayden’s father, Tom Ingram.

Kayden’s father and grandfather introduced him to the game when he was just three years old. His favorite golfers are Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth, to whom he sent a personal video in November.

“Hey Kayden, this is Jordan Spieth here. I just wanted to hear your story and say that what you’ve been through is incredible. You’re in last place right now. I’m really happy for you. Thank you for being a fan, and I hope to invite you and your dad to play at TPC Sawgrass this spring.”

Kayden had a chance to meet with Spieth during Wednesday’s practice round. Amazingly, Spieth even let Kayden and his family walk through the ropes together on the last few holes.
