STROUDSBURG, Pa. — Flowers of all kinds sold quickly at Stroudsburg’s Floral Boutique on Valentine’s Day. Many people stopped by to buy something for their loved ones.
Maranda Roskilly helps out during the Valentine’s Day holiday. She considers that day to be the florist’s busiest day of the year.
“At 7 o’clock this morning, there were people lining up in the parking lot waiting for us to arrive, and they don’t open until 9 o’clock, so it was kind of interesting,” Roskilly said. Told. “We let them in a little early today, so as soon as we opened the door, about 15 people came in.”
Roskilly said they bring in thousands of flower stems to prepare almost every bouquet that leaves the front door.
“We closed Sunday and Monday to catch up and make sure all deliveries were ready for customers who had pre-ordered. Then on Monday we tried to focus on securing the store. It was set up and ready so we had things for people who just wanted to come in and take it with them,” Roskilly said.
Making a tough day even more difficult for a flower shop delivery driver is the addition of 100 feet of snow on top of it.
“We didn’t have a delivery person come yesterday because a lot of people haven’t cleared their driveways to make sure the flowers can be delivered safely,” Roskilly said. “So we called them and said, ‘Hey, um, can we just deliver it tomorrow? You know, we’re going to throw in chocolate or something late for that day?’ ” You know, we couldn’t get there safely either because we didn’t want people to think we weren’t important. ”
Roskilly said the store had more than 100 deliveries scheduled.
Our biggest seller is red roses, but we also have a wide variety of other flowers and items.
“We have a mix of all different arrangements, probably somewhere in the middle of the same area of about 100 each, and this year we added preserved roses,” Roskilly said. “So these are real roses, but they’re preserved and they last anywhere from one to three years. So this year we added a whole section on that. We also have a sweets and candy counter.” What you have. “
