After 16 years at Case Western Reserve, Vice President for Marketing and Communications Chris Sheridan announced today that he will be leaving the university later this month.
“It is truly an honor to work with such a talented and dedicated group to tell the stories of the people and achievements that make this university such a special place,” Sheridan said. “However, having spent significant time in this role, including the introduction of centralization in 2019, I believe that the marketing and communications team and the wider university will be best served by new leadership.”
Mr. Sheridan joined Case Western Conservancy in 2007 as Chief of Staff to President Emeritus Barbara R. Snyder. Four years later, she became head of marketing and communications, initially focusing on strengthening media relations and improving university publications.
Since we integrated our marketing and communications functions four years ago, we have seen dramatic increases in metrics such as daily social media followers, graduate admissions marketing, and media appearances.
For example, in the last academic year, members of the university community appeared nearly 650 times in national publications, including approximately 24 publications each. new york times and washington post. President Kahler said the university will begin a national search for Sheridan’s successor later this semester.
Meanwhile, Katie Brancato, vice provost, chief of staff and strategic advisor to the president, will oversee the university’s marketing and communications in collaboration with faculty vice presidents Bill Rubinger, Emily Mayock and Bob Linderle. . Mayock, vice president of strategic communications, will also become interim vice president of marketing and communications operations.
