Many of the popular fast food chains have been around for decades.

However, menus, restaurant designs, and employee uniforms have changed significantly over the years.

Vintage photos of fast food restaurants show what it was like when you went to McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, and other chains decades ago.

The first official McDonald’s franchise opened on April 15, 1955 in Des Plaines, Illinois.

The first franchise restaurant sold only hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fries, milk, root beer, orangeade, Coca-Cola, coffee, and three types of milkshakes: chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla.

In the 1970s, McDonald’s employees manually recorded orders without using electronic systems.

The company was established by the 1970s and began its global expansion. By 1970, the chain had sold more than 6 billion of his hamburgers.

Chains like In-N-Out Burger already had drive-thru windows, but McDonald’s franchisee in Sierra Vista, Ariz., will not allow exhausted military personnel to enter local stores. There was no drive-through window until 1975, when it circumvented Army regulations.

fast company reported that they circumvented the regulations by tearing down a wall in the restaurant’s kitchen and installing a drive-through window to serve customers.

The first McDonald’s PlayPlace was introduced in 1971 and forever changed the McDonald’s dining experience for families and children. Kids could play on the colorful climbing structures, jungle gym, and slides while parents relaxed and ate.

The introduction of PlayPlace solidified McDonald’s reputation as a destination for families on a budget, as many restaurants did in the 1970s during the height of financial instability, high inflation, and the Vietnam War. Ta.

When the Big Mac was introduced in 1968, the hamburger quickly became the chain’s signature product.

Chicken McNuggets were added to the menu in 1983, and beginning in the summer of 1987, patrons also had the option to “supersize” their fries and soft drinks to a larger size.

McDonald’s has tested many other products over the years, and by 2013, its menu had 145 choices, Bloomberg reported.

When the chain first opened, it offered 18-cent flame-grilled burgers, milkshakes, and fries. By the 1980s, the fast food chain had developed an established brand identity.

In the 1980s, Burger King locations offered both drive-thru and dine-in service, allowing customers to choose the method that was most convenient for them.

The chain introduced its iconic Whopperburger in 1957. By the 1980s, it had become a staple menu item at fast food chains.

White Castle is considered the first fast food hamburger chain. When the restaurant opened, the family-owned business sold stacks of 5-cent sliders.

In 1961, White Castle became the first fast food hamburger chain to sell more than 1 billion hamburgers. A year later, the chain introduced a new menu item: cheeseburger sliders.

Dwarf Grill, located in Hapeville, Georgia, opened in 1946. It eventually became what we now know as Chick-fil-A.

The business, owned and operated by founder Tuyet Cathy, started by selling staples such as waffles, breakfast foods, sandwiches and burgers.

Chick-fil-A’s first official store was located in a shopping mall.

Kathy opened her first independent Chick-fil-A restaurant in 1986, more than 20 years after developing the chain’s original chicken sandwich. Freestanding stores are now the norm for Chick-fil-A, and mall locations are less common.

When In-N-Out opened in 1948, it became California’s first drive-through hamburger stand.

In-N-Out’s menu has remained largely unchanged since its inception. In 1961, In-N-Out added an “Animal Style” burger to its menu that included a beef patty cooked in mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles, extra spread, and grilled onions.

In 1963, In-N-Out began serving its famous Double-Double burger, and in 1975, In-N-Out began serving milkshakes.

A few years later, In-N-Out opened its first store with a dining room in Ontario, California.
