Former All Whites Tim Brown tells the story of his football career and subsequent launch of pioneering shoe brand Allbirds in a 90-minute interview on the Between Two Beers podcast.
Brown, 42, is a former professional footballer who made 112 appearances for the Wellington Phoenix and won 30 caps for the All Whites.
In 2012, at the age of 31, he left football and New Zealand to study for a master’s degree in business administration in the UK.
He had been toying with the idea of an eco-friendly and sustainable wool shoe.
Four years later, he co-founded a shoe company called Allbirds. Nine years later, the company was listed on the Nasdaq at a valuation of nearly US$4 billion.
