Last year, the Franklin County-based nonprofit donated $34,000 to WellSpan’s Oncology Bridge Fund. The fund is managed by Summit Health Foundation and supports patients battling cancer.
“We are extremely grateful for the Waynesboro Regional Cancer Auction’s enduring support of the Oncology Bridge Fund,” said Kara Ferraro, Director of Development, Summit Health Foundation.
In addition to recent donations, WACA has donated more than $109,000 to WellSpan since 2017 to support local cancer patients.
“We wanted to support this fund because it helps people in Franklin County who are facing some of life’s greatest challenges,” Martin said.

Huber recalled her mother’s battle with cancer, which included several bone marrow and stem cell transplants.
“She was always so strong,” she said. “Her bravery will forever be an inspiration to me.”
Minick’s fight was an inspiration for Martin, but it hit even closer to home a few years later when her own mother, Chrisandra Martin, was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. Although her mother was able to overcome her illness, Christine Martin faced challenges.
“It was tough, and it would have been even tougher if we didn’t have the resources of our family,” Christine said.
